Hey, I’m Patrick. nice to meet you.
<< REWIND
Born and raised in Kentucky, I developed a love for all things camera when my parents bought a VHS camcorder from Circuit City (if you remember Circuit City, I’ll hand you a crisp one dollar bill next time we meet). I think I was five. It was the coolest toy I’d ever seen. In fact, I think I still have it in my closet somewhere…gonna have to search for it after I’m finished writing this bio. Anyway, loved that thing. Though, where I’m from, being a camera-guy wasn’t really presented as an option. So I kind of forgot about it.
Highschool came and went, and I wasn’t sure what I wanted to be just yet. I thought about animating movies for Pixar, or at least become a professional notebook doodler (two jobs my guidance counselor didn’t know how to help me with). Then I found a major at Morehead State that seemed to teach all things media. That was as good start for me! Maybe I could weasel my way into Pixar after all.
Then I remembered the camcorder, then I bought a DSLR, then I bought a lens, yada yada yada, bam. I’ve found what I want to do for real.
>> FASTFORWARD
By the time I truly discovered photography, I was living in the dorms with a randomly assigned roommate. With all of the growing-pains of college, the camera gave me something to focus on. It became a way to express myself, document history, meet people, and to be frank…make pizza money.
It started in news. When I joined the Morehead State University student newspaper, things kind of took off. We were launched into heavy hitting news immediately. You had to learn fast, or miss your shot. I owe a lot to that newspaper, and the people who taught us along the way.
The school paper led to freelance, which led to real newspapers, which led to National Geographic, which led to Kentucky Educational Television, which led me to you (Well, I’m hoping it does. I don’t think we’ve met yet).
I know I skimmed over a lot just then, but we can talk about it more later.
Feel free to reach out anytime, I’d love to take your photo one way or another.

As you can see from the rest of this site, I like shooting all kinds of situations. Finding that perfect split-second moment, and snagging a photo of it keeps me going.
Send me a message describing what kind of shoot you had in mind.
Excited to hear from you,
- Patrick
